Morning work 2

From our learning blog…

The Angel of the North

The Angel of the North

  • The wings of the sculpture are 54 metres wide (measure this out to get an idea of the size). How tall would you estimate it is?
  • About 90,000 people see the sculpture every day! How many is this over a week? A month? A year?
  • This sculpture pays tribute to the industrial history of the North-East. What do you know about the industrial history of our local area?
  • If the angel could speak, what do you think it would say?

Myst Explorers…

Myst Bubble 1

A collection of our writings in response to Myst 4

The bright blue sky took my attention and I lost concentration. The shimmering gold rocks reflected like shinning walls. Everything shone in the sunlight, as I felt the wind blow. I was quickly traveling in the cable car as I saw the water below. The shimmering sun amazed me as I sat back on my chair…

By Acer

I was in a cold blizzard cave. I went to go and have a look around I found little cracks in the ground. I took a few steps forward I came to this big bubble. I looked at it and saw something in side. I wondered what It was my heart was beating really fast!!

By Montana2

The water was glittering like a crystal, then suddenly we zoomed though as the crisp hot mountain was brushing past us with its rocks. It was coming down with the golden water crashing and thundering in the rocks below…

By Gerard

Mystpic4

I set off in the sky diver. I looked down at the water and saw a gentle flow on top of the water. I heard a creak in the wire. We went through a crack in the wall…

By Glego

Underneath me the water was as clear as a jewel, the sun glistened upon the water. Everything was silent. As I moved giant rocks approached me. Suddenly it sped up – the crackles of the mono rail rubbing against the metal were loud. We took a sharp left and zoomed through an opening in the cliff. When we came into the clearing I was thunderstruck to see a massive waterfall. The roar made me shiver and I got a little surprised when we got wet through a little hole.

By Happy Jogger

As I looked down, at the rippling water, that was shiny because of the sun reflecting down. Then I looked up, I saw the gold, orange, gigantic rocks flaking away. As we moved forward, we got faster and faster. In the distance I could see a crack in the rock and before I knew it I was going through it. It was a bit of a tight squeeze! I could see a wonderful waterfall and there were sprays coming off it.

 Myst Bubble 2

I saw bones of the ship razed out before me. The rusty ship was half showing, half under water. The old boxes were washed up on the fire-hot beach. Birds were diving in the water and splashing me. The water was a brown and red colour and splashed against the rocks…

By Bubbles

The water was hitting the rocks very hard and it was running through all the tight spaces. I could hear waves coming towards me. The rocks were a light brown. I could see a light waterfall while we were flying in the cable car.

By Blue Pixi

The sky was very grim and water filthy. I didn’t like the mysterious feeling it gave me. It was like a chill from the top of my spine down to my toes, I slowly lurched forwards and startled I turned around. A skeleton lay on the dust covered floor rising and falling, again and again. Suddenly I realised spears were stuck in the sad corpse of the queer animal or thing…

By Ahorey

As I first came to this mysterious place my eye caught sight of the strangest bird I have ever seen. They twisted and turned in the air, diving in and making a spray of water catch the wind. I looked beneath my feet and there I saw the red crab scuttling aimlessly up and down searching for food. As I slowly looked up I saw the rusty creaky ship in front of me. It was very old and it seemed as if it had been there for ages.

Mystpic5

The rusty old boxes washed up onto the sandy shore where my feet were standing. The bones of some animal curled round the totem pole as spears stuck up .The water roared like a shaggy lion in the water. The crabs eat the flesh of dead fish. The water crashed up against the rocks. Crash!

By Trixie

The waves crashed on the sharp rocks as the wind whispers in my ear. A fish carcass lay on the shore as the leather winged birds dived in and out of the gleaming water. The rotten abandoned ship faced the dark gloomy sky. The rocks were as sharp as a knife.

By Cool Cat

I saw fish old bones and the boat rose as I stepped forward, sand burning badly beneath my boiling feet. Suddenly I saw strange birds sitting on the abandoned ship. One of the birds shot up into the clear blue air but zoomed quickly back down into the deep dark sea. The reflection of the big ship shone upon the sea. I look up and saw torn pieces of planks sticking out dangerously. Crabs tore the flesh of the half-eaten fish lying on the floor.

By Raindrop

The rusty old ship lay before me. I saw a body of something that had been pelted with spears. They were still sticking out of it. I went on to the rotted ship pointing up into the sky. I stared at the rotted wood.

By Burpman

The ship was rocking to side to side it was stuck up like a mountain. It was rusty and old. I saw a pale of bones and spears. The bridge was starting to break.

 Myst Bubble 3

I began to slide faster into the small tunnel. I was slipping and sliding helplessly over the cracking crystals. Suddenly there was a deafening screech as I went over ice! It was almost glowing green! There were spikes sticking up all over the tunnel. Darker and darker it got…THUMP! I was in the basement of Spire!

By Coogle

I began to slide helplessly down to the spooky dark tunnel. The irritating sound of the slippery dark tunnel hurt my ears. The icicles where as sharp as a tigers tooth. The crystals shone beautifully, as I slipped down into the dark…

By EllaEnchanted

I began to slide faster into the tunnel and I felt the rough feeling of the stone slide. Next I was on the glass section of the slide, it made a funny squeaking sound on my skin. I was really going fast now and kept smashing crystals and shattering rocks. Then I went… FLOP on the hard stony floor!

By Jammidodger

I found my self standing on an icy surface with snow crowding me. A cold breeze pushed me back clear icy snow was around me. Snow was coming in like a blanket. I was freezing could but it did not stop me from exploring. I saw a white bubble in the distance. I saw a hole so I stuck my head out into the cold…

Tomahna Night

For Sale…

Tomhana is a perfect house. It’s well built and planned out nicely. This beautiful home is most unusual and is expected to attract a lot of interest. The self-contained rooms surround an idyllic lake that provides water and power. This luxurious, up-market setting provides a lake, an observatory, an elevator, (which can reach every part of the dwelling), and much more! The kitchen provides an old, rusty stove and a dining area, which includes an entertainment area and a lovely view.

This beautiful home is most unusual and is expected to accurate a lot of interest. The self-contained room surrounded by a clean lake that provides water and power. This lovely house has five or more rooms hidden below. As well as a children’s bed room, the other side of the lake has a master bedroom. At night this area will transform into a midnight wonder. Don’t tell anyone about this, but in the fireplace in the master bedroom there’s a lift and the lift contains lasers. If you figure out the puzzle you will go down to a magic wonder.

By Blitsen

This lovely home is best appreciated when it is lightest or any time of day. The kitchen has a lovely dining area to enjoy when you are hungry anytime or for your daily meal. There is a cave next to the river…so relaxing.

This beautiful house is most unusual, but very lovely. There are patterns everywhere. The children’s room is very entertaining. There are two lifts-one is hidden in the master bedroom! The people that lived there before are very kind and they looked after it very well. You might find a very precious necklace which gives you visions. You will enjoy this beautiful home!

Instructions for the cable-car

When in front of the cable car, enter by the non glass entrance and pull the lever to your chosen miles per hour. Then press go! This cable car can be used for any travel like night-time travel or a trip on the rocks. It also leads to a work shop.

By Jobi-one-kenobe

You have to be steady when you’re going round swerved corners. The red leaver on the right hand side is for opening and closing the door. The left hand side has two buttons. The red one is for going faster and the green one is for going slower.
